Railways Credit Union Limited

Railways Credit Union Limited
There are lots of really important differences between a Credit Union and the banks. One of which is typically more money in your back pocket at the end of the day! We offer super competitive rates and products, tailored specifically to our members, plus we provide information on how to minimise your fees even further, wherever possible.

One key similarity is that we’re as safe as a bank, since we’re governed by the same regulations, and we offer products like home loans, savings accounts, car loans, insurance and more. However, unlike a bank, we’re owned by our members, which is how we embrace the value of Mutuality In Action.

As a member, you automatically become a shareholder, entitling you to vote at every Annual General Meeting – giving you a say in the future of your Credit Union. While the shareholders of banks are people looking to invest for profit, we’re more interested in investing in your financial well being – so rather than paying out dividends to a third party, we put all profits back into the organisation that you own. That’s our commitment to you.

Railways Credit Union is also a signatory to the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice. This is an expression of the importance we place on improving the financial well being of our members. The Code includes the following “10 Key Promises”:

1. We will be fair and ethical in our dealings with you;
2. We will focus on our customers;
3. We will give you clear information about our products and services;
4. We will be responsible lenders;
5. We will deliver high customer service and standards;
6. We will deal fairly with any complaints;
7. We will recognise our customers’ rights as owners;
8. We will comply with our legal and industry obligations;
9. We will recognise our impact on the wider community; and
10. We will support and promote the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice.

Railways Credit Union is committed to complying with the requirements set out in the Code. Should you have any questions in relation to the Code please contact our Member Care Centre or if you would like to view the Code it is available via this link Customer Owned Code of Practice
